Instagram Collage # 1.
Instagram Collage # 1 is an improvised performance piece in which videos, pictures and stories taken from the popular social media app Instagram are mixed together in real-time to create an audiovisual collage. I wanted to create an Instagram instrument which would allow me to capture both visual and sonic content in real-time, and explore the aesthetic beauty of the audiovisual relationships which are inevitably created. My intention with this Instagram instrument is to draw attention to the role of social media sites in the modern world, highlighting the pervasive and corupt nature of these internet platforms and revealling some of the ways in which social media negatively effects our lives, mental health, and the wider community.
